Are Jeeps Safe?

jeep wrangler exterior

The Jeep lineup is well-known for its capability and off-road performance, but many Long Island City drivers may be wondering: “Are Jeeps safe?” Certainly, when you consider the multiple ways you can change or accessorize your Jeep, the question of Jeep safety arises. However, many East Hill drivers will be happy to know that Jeep vehicles are some of the most dependable on the road. Not only are they built to handle off-road terrain, but many Jeeps also come with the driver-assist safety features you know and love. Read more about Jeep safety systems with Major World Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram below, to see how these vehicles will keep you and your passengers safe. Do you have questions on a specific Jeep vehicle? Jeep Safety Features

Cars have become a big part of our lives. Not only do we use them for transportation, but we also use them to pull cargo, listen to our favorite songs, and to connect with the world around us. As modern vehicles have evolved to incorporate driver-assist safety features, so has the Jeep brand. You can find these Jeep safety features on any Jeep vehicles:

    • ParkView® Rear Backup Camera: Using the Uconnect® touchscreen, this backup camera allows you to easily hitch a trailer or back into a parking space.
    • ParkSense® Rear Park Assist System: This system will alert you to any obstacles behind your Jeep while you park.
    • LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist: If you drift from your lane without signaling, this system will use audible and visual warnings to alert you. It can even correct steering to re-center the vehicle.
    • Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking: This system will alert you if you’re approaching another vehicle too rapidly. If you don’t react in time, the brakes will engage automatically.
    • Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection: The Blind Spot Monitoring system will notify you when a vehicle enters your Jeep’s blind spot, while the Rear Cross Path Detection system will alert you to approaching vehicles when you’re reversing.
    • SOS Call and Assist Buttons: Located on the rearview mirror, the SOS Call button connects you to a Public Safety Answering point, so you can request emergency assistance. The Assist button connects you to local roadside assistance.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control: This system will automatically adjust your driving speed to a preset distance from the vehicle ahead of you.
  • Automatic High Beam Headlamps: These innovative headlamps can sense when they’re needed and when they’re not. For extra safety on dark roads, these lamps will illuminate the path ahead of you while also being courteous of the cars around you.

Sophisticated 4×4 Systems

Every Jeep vehicle has an available 4×4 system that has been put through a series of grueling tests that prove their reliability and safety. Each Jeep vehicle has a Trail Rated® badge that signifies that they’ve passed this one-of-a-kind durability test. Trail Rated® vehicles have been tested in traction, water fording, articulation, maneuverability, and ground clearance. Plus, if you opt for a Jeep 4×4 system with Command-Trac® or Jeep Active Drive Lock, you can safely traverse mud, gravel, snow, rocks, and even sand on some model trim levels. So, are Jeeps safe? We’d argue that with their advanced testing that Jeep vehicles are some of the safest on the road.

IIHS Crash Test Ratings

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) tests the durability of each vehicle that comes on the market every year. This administration sets the standard for what’s considered safe for Manhattan roads using two scales that rate vehicles on crashworthiness. The first scale rates from Poor to Good (good being the highest rating a vehicle can get), the second scale rates from Basic to Superior (superior being the highest rating). Read how the 2020 Jeep models placed in IIHS testing.
